Working Out At Home

Image
Hello! So I love working out everyday. But I don't go to any gym. I workout at home in my living room. It's cheap and efficient. This way I can workout whenever it fits me and I don't have to think about the gym being open or not or any machines being taken our not. This way I get the exercise that I want. Plus as I said it's cheap because I don't have to pay for any membership. Just my regular rent and internet bill. Working out at home is not for everone. But it really fits me because I have a lot of space in my livingroom. So why would I go anywhere else? In the summer when the wheather is nice I do like to go for a power walk in the woods. Sometimes I borrow my sisters dog because it's nice to have some company. When I workout I do follow videos on youtube. I have Apple TV so I just use youtube through that and watch it on my TV. My favorite channel is Fitness Blender. They have a bunch of great videos with different exircises. Both for beginners and pro...

Go Outside and Get It Done

So it is summer but it doesn't feel like it because of grey clouds. No. I want sunshine and heat. Well well, according to the weather app we will have sunshine and round 20 degrees tomorrow and on Thursday. I am going to make the most of it then and meet up with some friends. Okay yes we have a grey sky today but at least we don't have snow and a temperature below 0. Thank God for that! When we have days with good weather we need to make the most of it of outside and have some fun. Sunshine is good for us because we get vitamin D from the sun and we all know how good fresh air feels. Summer is a great time to workout outside. You will benefit so much from working out outside. Other than getting a workout in you will get some fresh air and that vitamin D. If you are used to working out at the gym with weights or maybe you're like me and workout at home by following youtube videos it might be a little hard knowing what do to when you don't have your usual gadgets. Tha...

Workouts For Your Brain

Hello my darlings! Today I am actually writing to you from my regular office aka my balcony. I was actually thinking about it, that whether or not it would be a good idea to have a real office and work from there. But nah I rather just buy a fancy apartment and work from there. The office would be a good idea if I had several employees but I don't and I am not planning on hiring anyone anytime soon. So that's that. So all this having a healthy lifestyles is a combination of things. I know I know I know, I have brought this topic up a few times before. You can't just say that working out equals having a healthy lifestyle. Yes it's a big part of it. It is also very important that you workout your brain. Always keeping it going by making it solve problems and having to think strategically. Mathematics is actually really because you can't just act and not think you have to think and then act. Working out your brain will improve so many other aspect of your life. It wi...

My Workout Schedule

Hello! I workout every single day. I workout a little over an hour. I would never workout less than that. I mean this works well for me. The only time I would sweat it out for only 40 minutes if I would take an hour of lunch and work out during the time instead of eating. But no, I like it this way. As I have said before I only work out at home in my living room. I follow videos on youtube. There are all kinds of workout videos on youtube. I am sure that you you want to try it you will find something that suites you. My workout schedule is quite simple. I do yoga Monday through Wednesday and cardio (that focuses on the butt and thighs) Thursday through Sunday. It is not more complicated than that. But, I also do the plank everyday. the plank is good for overall body strength. I eight minutes of the plank everyday. Two minutes, rest for a few seconds and repeat four times. Try that everyday and you will notice significant changes. Have a nice Tuesday night! your writer, Erika

Workouts That I Want To Try

Image
It's feels so good to be back! By back I mean working out again! Yes yes and YES! I still have somewhat of a snotty nose but it doesn't hinder me from working out. I did yoga yesterday and some cardio today. Feels great to be back! I don't have any words of wisdom for you today. Being a blogger is hard sometimes. I try and produce fun content that you guys might like. I hope that you all like what I post here. So I have been thinking a while that I want to try some new workout out methods. Okay maybe just one. I want to try barre. From what I understand it's a mix between ballet and pilates. It's apparently very hyped among celebrities. But I don't know, it also seems fun, but there is no shame in wanting to be like your idol. Just don't loose yourself in the midst. Have any of you tried it? Anyone in Stockholm that could recommend a good center? your writer, Erika

Swimwear Season

Image
Hello everyone! I am sitting here on the couch watching House of Cards and charging my batteries for Saturday. Since I am not feeling my best today I thought that it would be best to do the bare minimum to get through the day. I am of course sitting here working, but that's the bare minimum because we all have to work to survive (truth to be told). But I am alive. The health nut that I am and person who never skips a workout I actually decided not to workout today. Cardio was on the schedule but didn't feel right to do about my usual routine. I could do yoga instead of cardio but nah, Imma let my body rest so that I hopefully will be 100% on Saturday of Summerburst and Justin. I just hope that the weather forecast is wrong and that it won't rain. Pray for me! Even though the past few weeks has not been great. I am talking about the weather. Okay yes we have had some sun and high temperatures but it differs from day to day. In spite of that you can still say the summ...

Looking Hot While Getting Hot

Image
I definitely do not have enough workout clothes! It's an issue because I have to wash the ones that I have all of the time. Enough for me would be if I had at least seven pairs of gymshorts/ yogapants and seven sport bras (yeah, I only workout in a sport bra because I get annoyed and uncomfortable if I wear a t-shirt over that because I get too hot). Now when it's starting to get a little bit warmer outside I like to wear shorts instead of tights. Sometimes when I do yoga it's nice to wear tights because it's not as sweaty. Don't get me wrong. Yoga is a great workout but it's not as intense as cardio. Okay, that can depend on what kind of yoga you do, because there are like millions different types of yoga out there. A friend once said that she doesn't think that it's necessary to have a bunch of fancy workout clothes because you are going to sweat in them either way. True but there are a bunch of brands that sell really nice workout clothes at a low p...

Abs For Days

Image
Hello! So I think that I have been a little bad at giving you workout tips. I don't know why. I kind of feel like I have talked about it all with you. That is not true. Or I mean there is always a new health craze coming every day. If you are just creative enough you can always find a way to make your workouts more effective. Today I thought that I would share my best ab workouts. What kinds of exercises can you do to get that flat, toned and ab stomach? Note: these tips that I am giving you are from my own perspective and what works for me. Hopefully it will work for you as well. 1. Did you know that when you do the plank you are actually using all of the muscles in your at once? You have to hold in your stomach while you do this for it to actually work. I do this every day. I do it for eight minutes. Two minutes of the plank, rest 15 seconds and then repeat three times. 2. Another great ab workout is the bicycle crunch, criss cross crunch or whatever you like to call ...

First Time In Five Years

Image
Hello there! I am back in Sweden again but I am already missing Spain. I am sittning here thinking of when I can go on a vacation again and where. Sweden is an absolute great country but the weather I don't get what went wrong there?! I promised you guys a report on how it went working out at the gym in Marbella. It went really well considering I haven't worked out in a gym in like five years. Now I know a whole lot more about fitness so I knew what to do to get the exircise that I wanted. It felt really good to workout the gym there which made me think that maybe that's what I need to do instead of doing those youtube videos. I have to look in to that.   The gym at the hotel was very small and didn't have lot of machines but they still had the basics. I focused on cardio and my butt and thighs. First I did 30 minutes on the treadmil and after that I did I focused on my thighs and did three sets of 10 reps with 10kg. Before I went on to my butt I took a little break...

Cardio Vs. Strength

Image
Hello! Tonight I am going to bring up the big old question cardio vs strenght workout? What burns the most calories? Which one is just better/ will give you better results? To answer the last question, I have to say that really depends on what your goal is. This is so individual! Personally I think a combination of both is the best. If you want a lot of muscle the strenght workout is the one for you. If you want to be the next Usain Bolt the cardio is what you should focus more on. Again so individual! I do a combination of both. My cardio routine is a mix if cardio and a strenght workout. Even my yoga routine as some strenght exircises. The question that I can more easily answer for you is: Which one burn the most calories?! The answer is both actually. Cardio burn the most calories during a session and strenght will help your body burn more calories after a session (meaning when you for example just laying on the couch doing absolutely nothing). Since strenght workout will help...

No Excuses

Hello! How are you? I am good except from that I felt like I was going to die when I worked out this morning. My body was dead! But I kept pushing through. I never  give up when it comes to working out. I am trying to have the "no excuses" Kevin Hart mentality when it comes to working out. Hopefully it pays off and shows. Now that I have started doing cardio three times a week I feel so much better. I mean I don't really do that much cardio but I do it. Plus the videos that I do from Fitness Blender are amazing! I love that I have found them. Check them out here ! I went shopping after work yesterday and I got recognized from Espresso House. Hahahaha but I recognized the woman too. This spring she used to come by regularly. I am glad that she recognized me because otherwise I would never have had remember from where I knew here. Hahaha. your writer, Erika

Benefits with The Plank

Image
Hello my darlings! How are you? I am good. Last month was a really good month for Erika's World. That is mostly because of you! I mean of course I produce all of the content but without you my fantastic readers I wouldn't really have much. So thank you! It means a lot! I told you guys that I switched from doing back-lifts and sit-ups to doing the plank. I do it for one minute at a time, rest for 15 seconds and repeat it five times. Yesterday I wasn't really sure if it was substitute but it really seems like it is. There are plenty of health benefits from doing the plank every single day. I thought that I would tell you about three of the benefits from doing the plank every day. 1. TONED TUMMY.  When you do the plank every day you'll strengthen your core and your adbominal muscles. Doing the plank is actually way more efficient than doing crunches! Who could have guessed that? Not me anyway. The plank provides 100% activation of your six pack muscles whereas doing cr...

I Tried Pilates

Image
Hello! So it's Monday and that means back to the real world. How is everyone feeling today? Did you have a good weekend? I had an amazing weekend but I told you all about that last night. I swicthed up my workout routine a little yesterday. I have gotten a little bored with it lately. I mean I love the results that I get from it and that is what motivates me. But it's just boring to do the same thing over and over and over again you know. So I decided to try some new things. Not just for me but for you guys! I like sharing workout tips with you. I mean just because I like it and it works for me doesn't automatically mean that it will work for you. But there is no harm in sharing, right? And if you want to share something with me you can always email me at  eriikaworld@gmail.com  or just comment. Whatever you prefer. Both is appricated. Anyway back to my workout routine. I did my usual cardio but I did a different butt and thigh workout that didn't include any squats...

3x

Image
Hello my darlings! It's Saturday, what's up? I just came home from a little shopping spree and now I am sitting here on my couch calming down from today. I had an intense morning! I tried a new cardio workout from Fitness Blender and wow I hate it. That means that it was good because it made my body have to work. I feel like you if hate a workout because it's too hard that is good. No it is amazing, because if you never push yourself you're never going to progress and that's why we workout right?! I mean we want to improve ourselves whether it is just to be healthier or you want a rounder butt or to be stronger or whatever your goal is. But we workout to be better. If I was perfectly content with how I am I wouldn't workout. Well now I am but if I stop working out my body will go back to the way it was, so nope. After this morning I have decided that I need to do cardio more than I do now. Now I only do cardio once a week but I have decided to do it three time...

Saturday Workout

Image
Hello! OMG, so I switched up my workout routine today. I wanted something new and new it was and good it was. I decided not to go outside for my cardio workout today. It's freaking cold so that is why. I tried a new video from Fitness Blender and wow it was really good. It was a high intense cardio workout with a mix of excises (plus you don't need any equipment for this workout). While I was doing my cardio I thought about skipping my butt and thigh workout but that just made me want to do it even more. But I tried a new routine and it was fun so I am going to do this one again. I have posted both of the videos below for you to try them out for yourself! I really recommend you too because it will be an amazing workout. I did both of these routines today plus 160 situps and 160 backlifts. your writer, Erika

My Next Move

Hello! Right now I am just sitting on the couch think about I should do for my workout later. Should I go outside or stay inside? The thing is I don't have a gym membership, I always workout at home. I have a lot of space in my living room so I don't see any need to get a gym membership. Plus I like the exercises that I do. I like my yoga and everything I can do in my living room. I don't want to take classes with a bunch of other people. But if I did have a gym membership I'd probably take spinning classes and barre classes. I was thinking about start playing tennis. It's an over all good workout. Plus my favorite thing about is that it's a good general cardio workout. Or maybe badminton. Yeah, because I remember it being very fun when I used to play in school when I was younger. I always wanted to start playing it for real but that never happened. I don't think that I ever expressed that I wanted to either. I think that I wanted it like you want that shi...

Bootylicious

Image
So I have been started to work more on my booty because I kind of want a nice round behind and I don't feel like I have it. Anyway, so I found this video on youtube that I really like. I like it most because of the instructor. She is so good at motivating you even though she's on a screen and this video was recorded almost year ago. But I when I do this video I feel as motivated as I would have had if she would have been in my living room with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09UN3UCv3ds your writer, Erika

I Have Mastered The Risotto

Image
Today I have really been all over the place! I went to the grocery store, walked 5k, did booty workout session and then I went to Sollentuna Centrum because I had to get a few things. While a was there I was Khaddi Sagnia a Swedish athlete who competed in the olympics. That's pretty cool! Now I am just laying on the couch after eating a gourmet dinner made by myself. Boy and girls I have mastered the risotto. I have always thought that risotto is one of those things that's really hard to make like bearnaise sauce. It wasn't. You will now see my cooking risotto for every meal of the day! (Maybe that's an exaggeration...) your writer, Erika

No Pain No Gain

Hola! I did another workout session today even though my legs are dead and barely functioning today. But I didn't die and I guess that's all that matters. Hahahaha. I was gong to go for a walk but it didn't feel like my legs could take that so I just did a simple booty exercise. I did walk to and from the grocery store. It's like a 10 minute walk there. I'll settle with that, I mean I did go pretty hard yesterday. It is fun to exercise! What motivates me is the results and then it makes it way more fun to exercise because I know I'll get something out of it. It's just not pain. your writer, Erika

Mondays

Image
Hi everyone! Good afternoon! Yeah! Who says that Mondays are boring? Not me. I have had a really good start of this week. Such a nice morning. I had a delicious breakfast with greek yoghurt and homemade granola and then I did some yoga. Yeah. The only thing that motivates me to work out is the result that notice on my body. I love yoga! I think it's the best thing! My body has become so much more flexible and I have actually got some muscles and abs (!). Hahahaha. I don't want to much muscle, that's not my thing. But it's nice to have some, be a little strong. your writer, Erika
